What Do I Need To Bring To My Intro Lesson?Be sure to wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows you to move freely! After your intro lesson, we'll get you set up with your official uniform (gi) if you choose to continue on. Additionally, we always encourage prospective students to bring a positive attitude and an open mind ready to learn and grow!
-
What If My Child Doesn't Excel In Sports? Many children who may not excel in traditional sports find that they thrive in karate. We emphasize personal growth given the individualized approach martials arts allows. Our experienced instructors work with each student to help them reach their full potential, regardless of their athletic abilities. So whether your child is a star athlete or just starting out, they can succeed in karate!
-
Will Karate Help My Child Who Has ADHD?Yes, karate can be a great activity for children with ADHD. The structure and discipline of karate classes can help children with ADHD learn self-regulation skills, improve focus, and develop better self-control. Additionally, the physical activity and regular exercise that come with karate classes can help children with ADHD manage their symptoms and improve their overall health and wellbeing. Our instructors are experienced in working with children with ADHD and can provide additional support and guidance as needed.
-
Should Parents Stay to Watch? While we don't require that parents stay, we find that parents who stay are able to most effectively reinforce the values we promote. We believe that parental support and involvement can greatly enhance a child's learning and progress in martial arts. However, we do ask that all spectators remain respectful of the class environment and refrain from distracting their child or other students.
-
How Do I Get Started? Our first step for new students is to have them attend a free intro lesson with us, where where we'll work one-on-one with you prior to joining a full class setting. After your intro lesson, new students participate in our seasonal starter pack. This typically includes 3-4 karate classes and their official uniform. Our starter packs are the perfect way to get started with us! They give both students and their families a good idea of what to expect prior to enrolling as a full time student.
